Sue Ousby

Pilates Mat Teacher

Sue started her training to be a Pilates Mat Teacher in 2022 qualifying in 2023 with Body Control Pilates. Since then, she has completed further training in the resistance band, small ball and toning circle and intermediate matwork.

Sue’s journey with Pilates started in the late 1990s when she took classes in Chippenham and Derry Hill. Having dipped in and out of Pilates over the years, Sue’s interest was rekindled as she explored the benefits of Pilates in maintaining mobility, flexibility and strength in later life.

Inspired by Amber and her team, training to be an Instructor was a natural step in both developing a deeper understanding of Pilates and being able to share that with clients and help them progress.

Sue has always loved working with people and seeing them achieve things that they thought they wouldn’t be able to. Her favourite thing about being a Pilates Instructor, is having the opportunity to do this through movement, which she finds both rewarding and fun.

Sue's favourite Pilates exercise (at the moment) is the Shoulder Bridge, particularly spine curls. “The feeling of articulating through the spine and getting feedback through the mat whilst engaging the abdominals, hips, glutes and hamstrings really works for me and there are so many variations we can do to make it more interesting.”
